Ubuntu Korean Input Configuration / Ubuntu 16.04 Environment

1. Configuration Environment

The configuration environment is as follows.

  • Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64bit, root user

2. Korean Installation (IBus)

Install the Ubuntu IBus Korean Package.

  • System Settings -> Language Support -> Install / Remove Languages…
  • Select Korean -> Apply
  • Reboot Ubuntu to apply IBus.

3. Text Entry Configuration

System Settings -> Text Entry - Press the ‘+’ button to add Korean (Hangul) (IBus) as shown in [Figure 2].

Change the icon in the upper right corner to a Taeguk (yin-yang) shape as shown in [Figure 3]. Press the Korean/English key to verify Korean input.
