OLTP, OLAP
OLTP (Online Transactional Processing) and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) are categories classified by the characteristics of Data Processing. This post analyzes OLTP and OLAP.
1. OLTP (Online Transaction Processing)
OLTP, as the meaning of Transaction Processing implies, refers to a Data Processing process centered on Transaction handling such as Insert, Update, and Delete of Data. It has the characteristic that a small amount of Data is changed concurrently by many Users. Processes such as Online Banking, Online book purchases, and Online accommodation reservations are classified as OLTP.
2. OLAP (Online Analytical Processing)
OLAP, as the meaning of Analytical Processing implies, refers to a Data Processing process centered on Data analysis. It has the characteristic that a large amount of Data is read concurrently by a small number of Users. The process of transforming Data into valuable information through Data analysis is classified as OLAP.
